The BPSC 72nd CCE 2026 follows the reservation policy of the Bihar government. The reservation categories include Unreserved, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Extremely Backward Class, Backward Class, Backward Class Ladies, and Economically Weaker Section. The reservation benefits are available only to candidates who are permanent residents of Bihar. Women candidates get 35 percent horizontal reservation. BPSC 72nd Pre Recruitment 2026 – Exam Pattern

The BPSC 72nd CCE 2026 selection process consists of three stages. Here is the complete exam pattern.

Stage 1 – Preliminary Examination: This is a qualifying examination of General Studies subject. All questions are objective type multiple choice. The exam duration is 2 hours and total marks are 150. Each question has five options A, B, C, D, and E. Candidates must select one correct answer. There is negative marking of one third mark for each wrong answer. The preliminary exam is only a screening test. Candidates equal to 10 times the total vacancies will be selected for the main examination.

Stage 2 – Main Written Examination: The main exam has different papers based on the post. For 72nd CCE, the papers include General Hindi of 100 marks, General Studies Paper 1 of 300 marks, General Studies Paper 2 of 300 marks, and Essay of 300 marks. For other posts, candidates have to appear for General Hindi, General Studies Paper 1, General Studies Paper 2, and one optional subject of 300 marks. The minimum qualifying marks in General Hindi is 30 percent.

Stage 3 – Personality Test: Candidates who qualify the main examination will be called for interview. The interview is of 120 marks. The final merit list is prepared based on main exam 900 marks and interview 120 marks totaling 1020 marks.
