The General Hindi paper is qualifying in nature. Candidates must score a minimum of 30 percent marks in this paper. The marks of General Hindi are not counted for the merit list. For 72nd CCE, the total marks for mains is 900. For CDPO, FAO, and SDCO posts, an additional optional subject paper of 300 marks is required.
BPSC 72nd CCE Mains Syllabus 2026 – Detailed
General Hindi (Paper 1)
This is a qualifying paper. Candidates need to score at least 30 percent marks. The paper includes essay writing of 300 words, grammar topics like Sandhi, Samas, Kriya, and Kaal, syntax and sentence correction, precis writing, translation from English to Hindi, and comprehension passages. The paper tests the Hindi language proficiency of the candidate.
General Studies Paper I
This paper covers Indian culture and heritage, modern Indian history and freedom struggle, Indian geography including physical, social, and economic aspects, world geography with major physical features, Indian polity and governance, social justice and international relations, disaster management and environmental issues, and Bihar specific questions on history, culture, and geography.
General Studies Paper II

BPSC 72nd CCE Personality Test (Interview)
Candidates who qualify the Main Written Examination are called for the Personality Test. The interview carries 120 marks. The number of candidates called for interview is 2.5 times the total vacancies. The interview panel tests the personality, communication skills, leadership qualities, and general awareness of the candidate. The final merit list is prepared by adding the marks of the Main Exam (900 marks) and the Interview (120 marks). The grand total for the final merit list is 1020 marks. Medical examination is mandatory for all candidates after the interview.
