Paper I is a Descriptive Type written examination. Candidates have to write one essay of 400 to 500 words on any of the several specified subjects.

Detailed Syllabus – Paper II (Computer Based Examination - Objective Type)

Paper II is a Computer Based Objective Type examination with 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 1 mark each. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

Candidates can choose either General English or Samanya Hindi. The questions will test simple composition and applied grammar.

Mode of Selection – Complete Process

Stage Details
Stage 1 – Paper II (CBE) Candidates appear for Computer Based Examination (100 MCQs). SSC may fix minimum qualifying marks.
Stage 2 – Shortlisting for Paper I Based on Paper II performance, candidates are shortlisted for evaluation of Paper I (Descriptive Essay).
Stage 3 – Paper I Evaluation Essay (100 marks) is evaluated for shortlisted candidates.
Stage 4 – Shortlisting for Part II Based on aggregate of Paper I + Paper II, candidates are shortlisted for APAR evaluation.
Stage 5 – APAR Evaluation Service record (60 marks) is evaluated.
Stage 6 – Final Selection Based on total marks (Paper I + Paper II + APAR), final select list is prepared cadre-wise.

Tie Breaking Rules

If two or more candidates secure equal aggregate marks, tie will be resolved in the following order:
