Stage 2 – Mains Syllabus (150 Marks)

The Mains exam is subjective type (pen and paper mode). You have to write answers in English only. Minimum qualifying marks is 50 out of 150. Without this, you cannot move to Stage 3.

Marking Scheme for Errors

  • 1 mistake (error) = 0.1 mark deduction

  • Left-out words = full mistake

  • Spelling mistakes = full mistake

  • Typing extra letters/words/symbols = full mistake

  • Words typed beyond limit will be ignored

Typing Speed Formula

Required Speed (WPM) = Number of correct words typed ÷ Time in minutes

Example: If you type 500 correct words in 20 minutes → 500 ÷ 20 = 25 WPM (minimum required)

Tie-Breaking Rules

If two or more candidates get the same total marks, the merit will be decided as follows:

  1. First priority: Older candidate gets higher rank

  2. Second priority (same age): Higher marks in Mains exam

  3. Third priority (same age + same Mains marks): Higher marks in Prelims
