The UPSSSC Forest Guard Recruitment 2026 has been officially announced by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), Lucknow. The commission has released Advertisement No. 12-Examination/2026 for 708 posts of Forest Guard (Van Rakshak) and Wildlife Guard (Vanya Jeev Rakshak). This recruitment is for both regular and special selection categories under the Forest Department of Uttar Pradesh.

The online application process starts on 30 June 2026 and the last date to apply is 20 July 2026. The fee reconciliation and application correction window will be open till 27 July 2026. Only those candidates who appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET-2025) and received a valid score card are eligible to apply for this Main Examination. The shortlisting for the Main Exam will be based on the normalized score of PET-2025. Candidates will be shortlisted in the ratio of 15 times the number of vacancies for each category.

The application fee is very low for this recruitment. All categories have to pay only the online processing fee.

The fee can be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or SBI E-Chalan. The Main Examination fee will have to be paid separately by candidates who are shortlisted for the Main Exam before downloading the admit card.

UPSSSC Forest Guard Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must check the following eligibility criteria before applying.

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Intermediate (12th class) from the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad or any equivalent examination recognized by the government. The qualification must be acquired by the last date of application which is 20 July 2026.

Preferential Qualification: If other things are equal, preference will be given to candidates who have:

1. Served in Territorial Army for at least 2 years

2. Obtained NCC B Certificate

3. Computer Application certificate from a recognized institution

4. Represented the state in any sport

PET-2025 Requirement: Only candidates who appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET-2025) and have a valid score card can apply.

Age Limit (as on 01 July 2026):

• Minimum Age: 18 years

• Maximum Age: 40 years

• Age relaxation for SC, ST, and OBC as per Uttar Pradesh government rules

• State government employees get 5 years relaxation

UPSSSC Forest Guard Selection Process

The selection process for this recruitment involves multiple stages.

1. Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET-2025): Already conducted. Candidates must have a valid score card.

2. Shortlisting for Main Exam: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their normalized score in PET-2025. The shortlisting is done in the ratio of 15 times the category wise vacancies.

3. Main Written Examination: Objective type exam with 100 questions for 100 marks. Duration is 2 hours. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

4. Physical Standards Test (PST): Height, chest, and weight measurements will be taken.

5. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Running test as per prescribed standards.

6. Medical Examination: Conducted as per medical manual by a medical board.

7. Document Verification: Original documents will be verified.

Part-1: Subject Related Knowledge (50 Questions):
National Parks and Bird Sanctuaries, Reserved and Protected Forests, Elephant and Tiger Reserves, Environment and Ecological Balance, Climate Change, Soil and Moisture Conservation, Afforestation and Agro-forestry, Forest Disasters, Forest Produce, Human-Wildlife Conflict, Forest Environment Benefits, Forest and Wildlife Conservation, Contribution of Forests in Indian Economy, Forest Ecology, Indian Agricultural System and Crop Cycle.

Part-2: Elementary Mathematics and Biology (15 Questions):
Mathematics includes Percentage, Profit and Loss, Simple Interest, Average, LCM and HCF, Area and Perimeter, Mean, Median, and Mode. Biology includes Nutrition, Respiration, Transportation, Excretion, Nervous System, Hormones, Reproduction, and Heredity.

How to Apply for UPSSSC Forest Guard 2026 ?

Follow these steps to apply online.

Step 1: Visit the official UPSSSC website at upsssc.gov.in.

Step 2: Go to the Live Advertisement section and click on Advertisement No. 12-Examination/2026.

Step 3: Login using your PET-2025 Registration Number and the OTP sent to your registered mobile number or email.

Step 4: Your personal details will auto populate from the PET-2025 registration. You cannot change these details.

Step 5: Fill in your educational qualification details such as board name, passing year, certificate number, and marks obtained.

Step 6: Your photo and signature will auto populate from PET-2025. No modification is allowed.

Step 7: Enter your post preferences and preferential qualifications if any.

Step 8: Read the declaration carefully. Tick all checkboxes. Enter the verification code and click Save and Submit.

Step 9: Pay the online processing fee of Rs. 25 through Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, UPI, or SBI E-Chalan.

Step 10: After successful fee payment and reconciliation, your application will auto submit. Download and print your application form for future reference.

Important Instructions for Candidates

• Only candidates who appeared in PET-2025 and have a valid score card can apply

• Candidates with zero or negative normalized score in PET-2025 will not be shortlisted
