SBI Apprentice 2026 – Eligibility Criteria

Before you apply, make sure you check all the eligibility conditions carefully. If you do not meet even one condition, your application will be rejected.

Educational Qualification: You must be a graduate from any recognized university or institute. This qualification must be completed as on 01 April 2026.

Age Limit (as on 01 April 2026): Your age must be between 20 years and 28 years. That means you must have been born between 02 April 1998 and 01 April 2006 (both dates inclusive). SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates will get age relaxation as per Government of India rules.

Nationality: Only Indian citizens can apply.

Important Conditions:

• Candidates who have already done apprenticeship in SBI or any other organization are not eligible
• Candidates who have job experience or training of 1 year or more after graduation are also not eligible
• Ex-Servicemen are not eligible for this apprenticeship

SBI Apprentice 2026 – Vacancy Details (State-wise)

SBI has released vacancies for 35 states and UTs. Candidates can apply for only one state. Below is the state-wise vacancy table with category-wise breakup.

The number of seats is provisional and may change as per the bank's requirement.

SBI Apprentice 2026 – Selection Process

Selection will be done in three stages. You have to clear all three stages to get selected.

Stage 1 – Online Written Examination

The exam will be objective type (MCQ based). There will be 4 sections with a total of 100 questions and 100 marks. The total time will be 60 minutes with separate time for each section.

Important: There is negative marking in this exam. For every wrong answer, ¼ mark will be deducted. So do not guess randomly.

The exam will be held in July 2026 (tentatively). It will be available in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages depending on the state you apply for.

Stage 2 – Local Language Test

After qualifying the written exam, candidates will have to appear for a local language test. This test will check your ability to read, write, speak, and understand the local language of the state you applied for.

Good news — if your 10th or 12th marksheet shows the opted local language as a subject, you are exempted from this test.

Stage 3 – Medical Examination

Your final selection will be subject to being declared medically fit as per the bank's requirements.

SBI Apprentice 2026 – Application Fee

The fee is non-refundable. You can pay online through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking.

SBI Apprentice 2026 – Stipend and Benefits

Once selected, you will receive a monthly stipend of ₹15,000 for the entire one-year training period. No other allowances or benefits will be given during the training.

After successfully completing the apprenticeship, you will receive a National Apprenticeship Certificate jointly issued by SBI and NSDC / BFSI-SSC.

The most important benefit is that candidates who complete the training will get weightage and relaxation in SBI's Junior Associate (clerk) recruitment. This gives you a real advantage in future SBI exams.

Please Note: This is not a regular job. Apprentices will not be treated as SBI employees and will not get any employee benefits like PF, gratuity, or medical allowances.

How to Apply for SBI Apprentice 2026 – Step by Step

Applying for SBI Apprentice 2026 is a two-step process. First you have to register on NAPS portal, then apply on SBI's website. Follow these steps carefully.

Step 1: Visit the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and register yourself. This step is mandatory before applying on SBI's website.

Step 2: Go to www.sbi.co.in/careers or sbi.bank.in/web/careers and find the link for "Engagement of Apprentices in SBI."

Step 3: Fill the online application form carefully. Select only ONE state, choose up to 3 preferred districts, and select your local language.

Step 4: Upload your scanned documents — passport photo (20–50 KB), signature (10–20 KB), left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration as per the prescribed format.

Step 5: Pay the application fee through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking.

Step 6: Submit the final application and take a printout for your records. You do not need to send any hard copy to SBI.

Details Mentioned in the Handwritten Declaration

Every candidate must write this declaration on a white paper with black ink and upload it with the application form.

"I, ______ (Name of the candidate), Date of Birth ______ hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required. The signature, photograph and left thumb impression is of mine."

This declaration must be in English only and must be written by the candidate themselves. Declarations in capital letters will not be accepted.

What Happens After Selection

Once you are selected and complete the one-year apprenticeship training at an SBI branch, you will be relieved from the work area. SBI has no obligation to offer regular employment to apprentices after training.

However, if SBI conducts Junior Associate recruitment in the future, successfully trained apprentices will get weightage, which gives them a better chance of getting selected.
